This delightful memoir about a dog and his master is dedicated to anyone who has loved and lost a favorite pet but it will appeal to everyone who has enjoyed being with an animal whether or not he or she was its owner. In fact, it was not Sheila G. Vestri who owned the dog; it was her brother, Brian, who searched for the fawn boxer puppy he wanted and happily found in their love-at-first-sight glimpse of each other. Beginning with Brian s childhood, Ms. Vestri s memoir, Rimshot, tells about a little boy s interest in dogs, dinosaurs and motorcycles which resulted in a series of dogs dinosaurs being difficult to come by that included a husky, a Labrador retriever and a spaniel mix. He loved them all. But he gave his heart to the boxer he named Rimshot. Given a series of names by the family Rimmy, Boo, Snooky, Stinky and Pup Rimshot and Brian were constant companions, playing together, walking together, eating together and hanging out on the couch together. Sadly, Rim and Brian only had twelve years together before the dog became ill and died. They were, however, happy years and Ms. Vestri has shown us that happiness in family snapshots and simple yet eloquent words.
